RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden AB) is a leading international research institute which is fully owned by the Swedish government. RISE employees work in close cooperation with customers to create value and deliver high-quality input to all parts of the innovation chain, thus playing an important part in assisting the competitiveness of industry and its evolution towards a sustainable development. RISE co-operates globally with large and small companies, universities, RTOs and other organisations. Through RISE international collaboration programmes with academia, industry, and the public sector, the competitiveness of the Swedish business community on an international level is ensured and contribute to a sustainable society. The roughly 100 testbeds and demonstration facilities of RISE are instrumental in developing the future-proofing of products, technologies, and services

The 2,200 employees of RISE are organized of 6 divisions, covering a wide technical range. RISE's headquarters are located in Gothenburg in the western part of Sweden. In Sweden, the institute is a major actor with a long experience of national as well as international R&D and innovation projects. RISE is continuously participating in around hundred ongoing EU projects (e.g. LIFE11-NOISUN, FP7-CHEESECOAT, MIXBIOPELLS, D-FACTORY, LIFE14-TRIALKYL, LEAF) and has coordinated several EU projects. In addition to the divisions, five business and innovation areas are established across the boundaries of the divisions. The business and innovation areas of RISE meet the societal challenges on the global scale that are related to, for example, climate, energy, environment, safety, and demography, as well as health and education. Such challenges require a trans-boundary approach, which is achieved through the work carried out within RISE’s business and innovation areas, in combination with RISE expertise in innovation management and R&D, and experience in working in close collaboration with the industry

RISE Bioscience and Material division conducts research, testing and certification in a wide range of areas related to chemistry and materials technology. Core competences include organic and inorganic analyses of major and trace components in gases, liquids and solids, environmental analyses, work and indoor environment, physical and chemical characterization of materials, surfaces and interfaces, and testing and prediction of material performance and durability in different environments and applications. RISE Bioscience and Material division also performs research and technical evaluation in the fields of life cycle analysis, sustainability and value chains for different application areas
